In the summer of 2024, we received an email from a US brand specializing in holiday gifts. Attached were design sketches featuring Santa Claus, reindeer, snowmen, snowflakes, and candy canes, with repeatedly revised greetings: “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year.” The request was clear: let customers feel the holiday spirit as soon as they see the package—one container for both Christmas and New Year.
The client selected multiple designs. Representative styles include:
Style 1: Santa Claus & Reindeer – Red background with Santa and reindeer central, surrounded by candy canes and snowflakes, with “Merry Christmas” wrapping around the container.
Style 2: Dual Holiday Greetings – White background with prominent “Happy New Year” text, accented with snowflakes and stars—one design covering two holidays.
Style 3: Snowman & Santa Claus – Small round container with scattered holiday elements including snowman, Santa, snowflakes, and gift boxes, full of whimsical charm.
Challenge 1: Greeting Message Clarity – Large fonts on curved aluminum surfaces risk edge blurring. We used high-precision flexographic printing with dot optimization, applying gradient treatment to font edges for sharp results.
Challenge 2: Color Accuracy for Red Background with White Text – Red needed saturation without bleeding; white needed purity. We selected high-opacity white ink, printing white first then overlaying red in a two-pass process.
Challenge 3: Delicate Pattern Details – Intricate lines in Santa, reindeer, and other patterns required precision. We used spot colors combined with dot screening, separating complex patterns into multiple layers.
